The Building

836 Oak has been created using the original structure of the former J.G. Flynt Tobacco Company. The building was constructed in two stages. The original section closest to Oak Street was built in 1911. The second section followed roughly a decade or so later around 1923. In subsequent years, the warehouse space became known as Tobacco Square.

The Building

After being retired from tobacco sales and storage, the building became home to different organizations. It provided office space for artists, photographers, self-help groups, and many other small and medium-sized businesses and nonprofits.836 Oak
